Style-Rut: Can You Feel My Pain?

For the last 6+ months I've been in a severe style rut. I can remember a time when I actually took pride in the way I looked and I wanted to look good. And I'd give it my best shot. For the last good while I've just neglected myself completely. Without a second thought I've thrown on yoga pants and either a loose t-shirt or tank top. Now this isn't the end of the world by any means, but since I've been in this mindset for the last good while I just don't know how to get out of it. I wouldn't even know what to buy if I were so inclined to do so.

Have any of you experienced this sort of slump? If so, what do you recommend to get out of it? Please feel free to share your experiences and thoughts. :)

  1. Ive experienced this!!! back when i was a sophmore (im a senior now) i was super depressed and not confident with myself at all, so i would pretty much wear the same black sweatshirt and sweatpants everywhere and i got made fun of a little bit at school for it. but around jnior year after i got a job i got back into fashion and makeup and started dressing up more. working out and eating a little better and reading lots of fashion magazines help me! i also watched a lot of makeup tutorials on youtube and that helped get back into my appearance. hope this helps!

    1. I think you're right, if i were to start eating better working out (just working on myself in general) I'd slowly start getting things back into some sort of swing. I'm finding that blogging is helping me with this. Isn't it funny how we can feel on top of the world one day and then down in the dumps the next? Btw, I love your blog and your style. It's pretty flawless.

  2. I think what Sissy said makes sense and I do really like her idea of watching some Youtube videos. However, I also do know that its hard to make all of those changes all at once. What I would recommend is for you to get rid of all of your yoga pants, except for a pair or 2 (but you should really only wear these to work out in), and purchase better clothing items. You can find some great things at a thrift shop or online. Also having things that have a set waist band then makes you realize if you are gaining or loosing weight. You should experiment and research what types of clothing would look best on you for your body type.

    1. As soon as I have a steady income I do plan on doing this. Throwing out the yoga pants and buying better clothes.
